Biography

In addition to tours with Wincent Weiss, Kasalla, the 6K United! Project and appearances in, among others, the Schauspielhaus Cologne, Alwin Moser is firmly at the side of the singer Cynthia Nickschas, on whose second album he was already able to take part. Together with her and the other band members they form “Cynthia Nickschas & Friends”. The music has influences from jazz and swing music as well as pop and rock and is enjoying growing popularity, although the question of which genre the music of “Cynthia Nickschas & Friends” ultimately serves remains unanswered for many people.
In December 2022, Cynthia Nickschas & friends will release the third studio album “Is’halt so”.

Alwin also plays regularly with his sister Sophie Moser in the ensemble “Uwe Rössler and his Tiffany Ensemble”. Uwe Rössler's high-quality arrangements regularly amaze the audience and do a great job of combining swing with classical music.

Alwin Moser has been writing arrangements himself since 2016. The group "Alwin & the Jazzmunks" emerged from a simple idea, in which Alwin, in collaboration with his colleagues and friends, creates jazzy music from well-known songs, which, in the old spirit of jazz, allows the audience to recognize songs in a new guise. With the aim of dressing up well-known songs in a completely different way and making them exciting in a new way, "Alwin & the Jazzmunks", as performers who don't always take themselves seriously, give listeners the opportunity to get to know music as something exciting and new.
Alwin Moser is a violinist, pianist, guitarist, arranger, composer - in short, a musical talent.
He has been interested in music and musical ideas since his early childhood. Since both his parents are musicians, music came to the table early on and he never didn't like it. There was early musical education, piano and violin lessons, but painting and sporting activities were also supported.
At a young age, Alwin Moser and his siblings played numerous classical concerts, national and international performances. Prizes from foundations and competitions were also won (“Jugend musiziert”, “Horst and Gretel Will Foundation”).

However, for a while Alwin wasn't sure where to put the energy. “Do I really want to be a musician?” was a question that occupied him a lot during his music studies in Würzburg.
A second question also came up: "What kind of musician do I want to be?" The holistic love of music in all its diversity prevented Alwin from choosing a career as an orchestral musician or a soloist in the classical sense.
He discovered the fascination of a wide variety of styles and began to study jazz and other genres on his own. Alwin started playing on the street, where he took his first steps outside of classical music in the area of singer/songwriters, but also jazz/swing, rock and pop music. This type of performance grew more and more, so that he appeared on small and large stages together with different artists.

Alwin sees himself primarily as a musician than as a pure violinist or instrumentalist. Although he comes from the world of classical music and can look back on decades of experience and hundreds of concerts, he has also felt very comfortable in the world of light music for over ten years and combines different styles in a unique way. Whether on the violin, piano or other instruments, Alwin knows how to combine high musical quality with enormous joy and sometimes artistic freedom.

Since October 2022, Alwin Moser has been playing the violin as “principal” (i.e. first line-up) in the award-winning musical “Moulin Rouge” in Cologne. In this position he plays the violin and viola in the ensemble both as a soloist and as a background player.
